Plant The Seed
As followers of Christ, we have a goal to tell the world about Jesus and give glory to God in all things. Take a moment to remember the joy you felt when you were a new believer. How different is your current life from your old life? There is freedom, love, and forgiveness that you only received through Jesus. Now, imagine people in your life who feel the pain and suffering that you felt before knowing about Jesus. Does that hurt your heart? It hurts my heart to think that someone I love cannot see the light in their darkness.
We need to be that light and we need to plant the seeds.
What is a seed?
A seed is a tiny but mighty inkling of faith that you can give someone that may change their life. You can only give them the hope of faith. Thankfully, it is not our job to make the seed grow into faith. God provided this disclaimer in 1 Corinthians 3:6-9:
6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Corinthians 3:6-9
We cannot force anyone to put their faith in God and accept the salvation of Jesus. Our job is to plant the seeds and pray continually. God does the heavy lifting.
How do we plant seeds?
Human as we still are, we need to behave as closely as Jesus did. Others who do not yet know Jesus will see Him in us in our actions. We tell people about God and give Him all the glory.
3 Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; 4 say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”
Isaiah 35:3-4
Give hope to those that have none. Tell people about the salvation of Jesus and what He did on the cross that day. There is hope and a future in Jesus.
Why do I want to plant seeds?
Every person deserves the opportunity to see God and the magnificence that He is. I do not want Heavens gates closed on anyone that God created. Anyone living in the earthly hell that I allowed myself to live in before I knew who Jesus was and the joy that He provides needs saving. I am changed, my heart is changed, and I ask God to break it for what breaks His.
However, I did not get here on my own. I got here through the words of others who told me who Jesus was and what He endured to get everyone here. These people stepped out of their comfort zones to tell a lost soul that I can be saved, and I will forever be thankful.
The joy that I feel when I think of all that Jesus has done and how much I need others to know as well can be explained in Isaiah 35:8-10:
8 And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it. 9 No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, 10 and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Isaiah 35:8-10
You may be the only light someone sees while they journey this earth. Please pray over it and see if God is leading you to speak to someone about Him.
As always, God loves you, I love you, and I am praying for you!
