ADITL-WTL

What is ADITL-WTL? ADITL-WTL is something we need to all consider because we are either currently doing it, or if we are not yet doing so, we need to start.

A Day in The Life – With the Lord.

Why do we need ADITL-WTL?

Some may say, “God is always with us, why do we need to think about Him being in our day?” That is a good question, and many have thought it. God is always with us, and He has confirmed this in Joshua 1:9.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

While we know that God is always with us, we also need to invite Him into our day. Let Him take a role in our situation, decisions, joy, or sadness. God wants us to invite Him into our lives. He has already saved us, but relationships are a two-way street. We cannot earn our salvation, but we can take part in the relationship that we started when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and savior. This idea is confirmed in the beginning of James 4:8.

“Come near to God and He will come near to you.”

James 4:8

How Can We Have ADITL-WTL?

First, let us consider how we start the day. You wake up and what do you do? Do you wish for five more minutes to sleep, start complaining about all that you need to do that day, or run for the coffee maker? How we start the day affects the remainder of the day. If we start the day by giving the Lord thanks for a new day, new mercy and grace, and all the opportunities that He has given us for that day, how do you think that would change your mindset? It may situate your heart because you will realize that He was not required to give you one more day, or that blessing, or the ability to complete that tasks set before you.

A person that is prevalent in the Bible that 1 Samuel 13:14 stated was a man after God’s own heart, that we should follow in example is David. David sought to give God the glory and trusted God to fulfill His word. David speaks on how to go to God when you wake up in Psalm 5:3.

“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”

Psalm 5:3

Next, let us think about how we normally react to problems that arise throughout the day. The options are endless when it comes to reacting to our problems. We can cry, yell, gossip, or try to figure everything out by ourselves. If we start the problem-solving process by asking God for help, the resolution may be closer than you think. Raise your hand if you have had more success by solving your own problems than when you ask God for help in solving them. Anyone? Going to God first can help cut down on the anger you feel when a problem happens.

Also, telling other people about your problems is not necessarily a bad thing. However, there are only three outcomes that could come from this. First, you just complain to people and do not attempt to solve the issue. Second, you explain the issue and they pray to God on your behalf. Third, you tell them what is happening, and they attempt to help you fix it. The second option is the closest option that will get you to a resolution the quickest, behind going to God yourself when something happens.

Another example from David that shows that we should go to the Lord with all our problems is in Psalm 3 when David was fleeing from his son Absalom. David turned to the Lord and the Lord delivered him.

“Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.”

Psalm 3:1-4

Lastly, let us end with discussing how we end our day. Do we end the day in sorrow because of all that we went through? Possibly we end the day with mind-numbing tv, Youtube, or Tiktok until we fall asleep. There is the option to fall asleep peacefully with hope that God will keep up safe regardless of what comes next.

The last example from David shows us that David, who had countless enemies and won numerous battles trusted God even in the vulnerable state of sleep. Give your problems to God. He can handle anything that you give to Him. There is nothing more that you can do at this point in the day but rest.

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Psalm 4:8

Invite God into your life. When you have a decision to make, include His perspective. Ask Him, do a search of the Bible to see how He would respond, or seek council from someone who is more versed in God’s word. Wake up giving God the glory that you get to see another day. Go to sleep thanking God that He brought you to the end of another day.

As always, God loves you, I love you, and I will be praying for you! Have a blessed week!
