Have You Left the Grave Behind?

One of the main aspects that God’s word teaches us in the New Testament is that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected three days later. He left the grave behind and is now with God.

How many feet do you still have in the grave?

Since we are called to leave our past selves behind and become more like Jesus, two questions remain, “are you firmly planted on the path to Jesus?” or “do you have on foot on the path to Jesus and one foot still in the grave?”. For newer believers, the transition to a new life can be scary. Some of the people that you surrounded yourself with may not understand. Friends, even family, can be unsupportive of this new change in you. You are not the only one to have experienced this.

18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. John 15:18-19

Every person who follows Christ has received some part in the world’s hatred toward Jesus. Keep pushing through it, Jesus is with you. There are so many people who do follow Jesus and wants to be your friend on this journey. Reach out to local churches and see if any of them feel like home to you.

Zero, One, and Two

Before you became a new person in Jesus, you had two feet in the grave. Your life was fully committed to the things of this world.

When you started following Jesus, you may have had one foot in the grave and one foot on the path to Jesus. Teeter-tottering between both the comforts of this world and the life Jesus gave us.

At the time when you become secure in Jesus, zero feet are in the grave and both feet firmly planted in the truth and way of life, it will be time to mentor those around you. There are so many people still in phases one and two. We need to plant those seeds of faith.

Jesus died for your sins. He was resurrected three days later and defeated the grave! The grave is optional! It is a choice that you make every day. You have the chance to choose life. For those of you who know this already, you have the chance to show life and love to those who need it. You may be the only way another person gets to know who Jesus is. Share Him with everyone.

Stop living in the way of the world. The world may provide comforts now, but eternity is longer. There is an indescribable joy that is found in the love of Jesus.

Please consider just taking one full day. Take the step from one foot in the grave to both feet planted in the path of Jesus. It is always worth it.

As always, God loves you, I love you, and I am praying for you. Have a blessed week!

13 If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 2 Corinthians 5:13-15
