About God
God is… (in the simplest of terms, I understand He is so much more.)
- Good
- Righteous
- Justice
- Shelter
- Love
- Peace
- Holy
- Forgiving
So many emotions that just one name can bring. God created ALL things. God is only a part of the Holy Trinity. There is God (who lives in Heaven), Jesus (who came to Earth and died for our sins and was resurrected), and the Holy Spirit (who lives in us when we accept Christ as our savior). The Holy Trinity is God in different forms.
He loves you. You were one of the people in His mind when He died on that cross. Even with the mistakes that you might have thought would just make Him hate you. Even then. Humans are not even close to having enough power to remove His love from us. The Bible is full of humans who made mistakes. He loved them too. You are not the first person to ever make mistakes. He does not require us to be perfect (thankfully).
He already knows you. He has known you before you were born (Psalm 139:13-14). Take getting to know Him day by day, or even just moment by moment. It is a new relationship, and you have the rest of your life on earth and eternity with Him to learn. You do not have to know it all at once, just keep trying though.
Imagine any other relationship and what expectations you would have on it. Love, effort, and forgiveness are what I think of first. God is love, and without God we do not really know what love is. It will take effort to have a relationship with God. He wants you to pursue Him every day. He gives you every moment in your day. Give Him time back by CHOOSING to spend it with Him. It is all a choice. You should want someone you have a relationship with to want to spend time with you. Forgive yourself for what you did in the past. Also, this may be surprising, but you will still make mistakes. Repent (ask forgiveness) and try to not make the same mistakes again. Knowing God dislikes you doing something, but you keep doing it after apologizing is the same thing as someone you care about asking for forgiveness for hurting you but keeps doing the same actions.
