It is too late for me to follow God.
He does not need me. Maybe if I were younger. If I did not make so many mistakes. He could just use someone else to do what He needs done.
These thoughts will come and go. That is when you rebuke the devil, praise God, and keep going about your day. Sounds easy enough, right?
I did not start to have a relationship with God until I was 27 years old. I felt all the love in the world when I decided to dedicate my life to serving God. Until the thoughts came. It would happen early in the morning or when I sat alone. Seemingly innocent thoughts, like maybe.. just possibly.. God does not need someone “like me” to serve Him.
It is true.
God does not “need” me.
He wants me though. He made me and gave me talents that I could use to help others get to know Him. He wants you too. You have talents, even if you do not know what they are yet. It does not matter what mistakes you have made or how old you are. You not are not far behind anyone. That does not really exist in faith. It is a process for everyone to know and serve Him.
“BUT THIS PERSON HAS BEEN SERVING GOD IN CHURCH ALL OF THEIR LIFE!” “THEY COULD HELP SO MANY MORE PEOPLE THAN I CAN.”
This does not matter. God can use you just as well as He can use them. Let me explain this in a way that I wish someone would have explained it to me. You have scars, right? Mental or emotional scars from all the mistakes that you made in your life. It is okay, I do too. We all do. You can use every ounce of the pain that you had with those scars to help others who might have either already went through the same thing or you can put a stop in the path of someone who is about to have that same scar.
“BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO HELP SOMEONE!” “I AM STILL HEALING FROM THAT.”
I get it. I really do. To help someone that was or is about to be in the same situation that you were in is difficult. I hesitated to even tell others about my past because I thought that I could just go on and forget that part of me. I mean, why remember who I was before I met God? We are all made new in Christ, right? Yeah, it does not work that way. Unfortunately, God is not the only one at work in the world. Sin is at work too and that makes room for the perfect opportunity for you to stand up against it.
If you are going to listen to a voice today, do not let it be that voice that says that you are not needed, or too weak, or helpless. You do not even have to listen to ME (even though I do really believe in you). Listen to Paul’s voice. “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
You really have two options. Do nothing or do something. It does not have to be some grand gesture. Just encourage someone, help someone with the knowledge you have earned, or just tell someone that God loves them. God can help you help others.
Love you!
