Being Seen

One of my biggest fears before I came to know Christ wasn’t snakes or spiders. My fear was being seen. Not in a “oh, I was noticed by another person” way, but rather in a “not only are my good deeds and accomplishments under scrutiny, but so are my flaws” way. I did not want to be noticed that closely by anyone. It felt like I was on a stage with a spotlight on me and the crowd had no facial expression if it was good or bad. There were two times that I felt this way: 1) going to God and 2) telling others about God.

Going to God

Going before someone that already knows all about you and your life can be intimidating. There are no ways available to hide your mistakes or what you see as imperfections. God is so full of love for you though. He wants you to run to Him for anything.

10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 John 4:10.

This happened while we were still deep into sin. God is the most pure form of love. Also, He already knows the mistakes you are going to make so there really is nothing that is going to surprise Him.

Telling Others About God

There are so many people that have not felt the joy that having a relationship with God can bring. The love that is in your heart just wants to pour out to other people so they feel that love too. First, you have to get out of your comfort zone. People will think whatever they want about it.

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Mark 16:15.

Do not let your fear of how other people will see you be the reason someone does not know the feeling of being saved by Jesus. Why are we not rushing to bring people to Jesus like they did in Mark 6?

55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

Mark 6:55-56

Have faith, plant the seed of salvation, and let God do what He does in saving people. Run to tell people about Jesus as if their eternity depends on it, because it does.

As always, God loves you, I love you, and I’ll be praying for you. Have a blessed week!
