Rest and Wearied

Some days I feel like Elijah in 1 Kings 19. Tired, running, and done with it all feels like an understatement. Life can be hard sometimes in a world that promotes multitasking. You cannot juggle everything at once or it will all fall down. Where do you turn to find help? Do you take a nap or push through? Today, I am tired. Here are some words of encouragement for when you feel as I do. God provides rest.

1 Kings 19

7 The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

1 Kings 19:7-8.

Elijah was done. He was frightened, tired, and hungry, all while running for his life from Jezebel. God was with him though.

1 task to focus on today, eat, drink, and read God’s word.

Isaiah

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:29-31.

God’s word is never wrong so if Isaiah says that God will provide strength, He will.

Second task for today, ask God for strength. Also, try to remember what God said in 2 Corinthians.

2 Corinthians

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9.

What better way to see God’s power and love for you than to see Him work miracles in your life that would not be performed through any other means? God gets us through everything.

Third task for today, thank God for His grace and mercy and for allowing us to see His power in our weakness.

Romans

3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Romans 5:3-5.

The hope I have only comes from the Lord. I am counting on Him to be the light of my life and the path my heart follows. He is my today, tomorrow, and forever and I am thankful for the perseverance He has provided me. I have the opportunity to break down or to be strengthened so I can stand greater trials in the future for God’s glory. It is through Him that I have the power to overcome all things.

Fourth task for today, remember all that God has brought you out of. You have survived 100% of all trials because of Him.

Posting today was not on my agenda. Life is busy and I am tired. When speaking with my spouse, I told him that it would not matter if I didn’t post today. This website has only had 27 views in the last 30 days. He reminded me of my purpose. I am not writing these articles for humans, but for God. I pray that God leads whoever needs to read it to them. They are not for me, but for the person that needs them that day. Do all things as if you are doing them for God. I probably would not be as tired if I kept that in mind. I am appreciative that 27 people may have been helped through reading any of it.

23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Colossians 3:23.

As always, God loves you, I love you, and I will be praying for you! Have a blessed week!
