To Whom Does the Glory Belong?
God deserves all the glory. Why does God want the glory? He created all things and gives us the power to accomplish anything. By giving God the glory, other people learn of God and His power. A few verses (there are many) that say to give God the glory is in Romans 11:36, Matthew 5:16, and Psalm 115:1.
“For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:36.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
“Not to us, Lord, not tot us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” Psalm 115:1
When we excel at something or have a big moment that you worked hard for and have a breakthrough it may be instinct to congratulate yourself. Be careful when this happens because God was with you, and He still brings the prideful low. You did not earn this achievement alone.
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5
What happens if I choose to not give God the glory?
There is a story in the bible about a man who did not give God the glory. The man was Moses, and this scenario is the reason Moses did not get to go into the promise land. As a backstory, on the journey to the promise land, everyone was thirsty and complaining. I completely understand how they were feeling. The in-between stages of being in your past to becoming the person God wanted me to become was incredibly difficult. Not to say that it is not worth the trouble, it is. Moses at this point was frustrated with the people and their complaining. God told Moses to break the rock, but Moses did not give God the glory while doing so.
“But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” Numbers 20:12.
I would not be able to accomplish one single thing I do daily if it were not for God. He has given me mercy for a new day, strength to accomplish the tasks set before me, and perseverance to get through the times when it is not easy. God is with you too. If you are not seeing breakthroughs, ask Him to be with you. Invite Him into your situations and thank Him for doing so. Give Him the glory when the mountains before you turn to rubble.
As always, God loves you, I love you, and I am praying for you! Have a blessed week!
