Write It Down

Humans (except for a select few) have terrible memories. I can remember lots of things, but not everything. Even when I had the idea for this blog, I forgot about it several times before I remembered to write it down. The idea would come to me while driving or when I was in a meeting. I would forget the idea by the time I had a moment free to write it down.

Our Blessings Can Be Forgotten

When going through the motions daily, taking it day by day, we become so focused on how we are feeling in this moment. Every second could feel like it is a make or break situation. God rescued you through situations before, but do we remember how we felt in those situations? When we are scared, do we remember the other situations at all? Probably not because you made it through those so you do not “need” to remember them now. In the hard times, the best thing we can do is put our faith into God. He pulled us out of every bad thing that has happened before and He has you now. He did not save you from the last bad thing and thought “well, that’s it for this person.” No, He will save you again as long as you put your faith into Him.

Write Down the Blessings

When you go through what seems to be the worst thing in the world, if you write down what you have been through before, you have the opportunity when your mind is clouded with fear to look back on those times and focus on what God has done. God knows that humans are forgetful. He said this to Moses is Numbers:

37 The Lord said to Moses, 38 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel. 39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes. 40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God. 41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord your God.’” Numbers 15:37-41

Making it a point to write down your blessings so you can look back on all that God has done for you will help you get your focus back on God when everything seems to be going against you. Our focus needs to always be on Jesus. The main attack from the enemy (the devil) will be to get you to focus on anything and everything except for God and His love for you.

“1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3

God has saved you before and He is not finished saving you. Put your faith in Him. He is our rock and our salvation.

As always, God loves you, I love you, and I am praying for you. Have a blessed week!
